What we’ll cover:
How over-striding increases stress on the knee and shin
What actually matters about foot strike
How cadence influences injury risk
Drills that reinforce strong positions under fatigue
Athletes will leave with:
A pre-practice posture reset routine
Clear mechanical cues to look for in your own running
A simple strength circuit to support strong hips
Track intensity increases quickly in-season. Without proper mechanics and lower leg strength, shin pain follows.
In this clinic, I will cover:
How to reduce tibial stress through improved mechanics
Building ankle stiffness without overloading
Calf strength and foot control for track surfaces
Warm-up sequencing for lower leg durability
Early warning signs athletes should never ignore
Athletes will leave with:
A lower leg strength training protocol (4-5 key movements)
Details on how to self-massage and work on lower legs
In my experience coaching high school athletes, knee pain is rarely a knee problem. It’s almost always a hip control issue which can show up as IT Band Syndrome and Runner’s Knee.
This session focuses on:
Establishing single-leg stability
Maintaining proper knee tracking in your running
Reducing IT band strain through better hip mechanics
Glute strength that actually transfers to running
Landing and pushing off without collapsing inward
Athletes will leave with:
A 10-minute hip and lower-leg warm-up routine
Single-leg strength progressions to add to their current routine
Clear cues to reduce knee irritation during speed work
Low back pain in track athletes often comes from losing posture when fatigued.
This clinic will focus on:
Pelvic positioning for sprinting and distance events
Core engagement that supports movement
How mechanics break down late in races
Torso and Upper Body Mechanics
Strength work that protects the lumbar spine
Athletes will leave with:
A three-phase core routine
Posture cues for the final lap
An Overview of Skills and Drills from the 3 prior sessions
